Megghan Watts
Megghan Watts, owner and head trainer, has been riding for over 30 years. Megghan spent most of her junior career riding and working with green ponies and horses. She had a successful junior career in both the hunter and jumper rings. She turned professional in 2002 and since then she has successfully trained many young riders and horses and helped them realize their full potential. She has taken many of her young riders to Pony Finals, Junior Hunter Finals, Zone Finals, and Stirrup Cup Finals over the last several years with great success. A member of USEF and USHJA as well as many local affiliates, she has trained and coached countless horses and students to year-end awards in equitation, hunters, and jumpers. She has a sense of pride watching her young riders achieve their individual goals. She believes in perfecting the basics, and emphasizing the fundamentals of good riding and horsemanship.
Emily Jefferson
Emily Jefferson, trainer, began riding at age 8 and has been a part of Heritage Acres Stables since 2012. Emily spent her junior years riding in Maryland and participated on her local IEA team with much success. After graduating high school she attended Messiah College to achieve a degree in Pre-K – 4 Education. While attending college, Emily started taking lessons at Heritage Acres Stables. Emily and Megghan hit it off from the start and formed a great friendship. With so many new students wanting to learn how to ride, Emily decided to begin her teaching career in the horse industry. She became an instructor and with her background in education the kids love her! In the few short years she has been instructing, she has taken riders from leadline to year end championships. She looks forward to her future with her students and their continued growth and success.
Kendall Kauffman
Kendall Kauffman is a professional rider, who has been riding with Megghan Watts since 2005. Her interest in horses started at 4 years old and has grown stronger ever since. In 2013, she started as a working student at Heritage Acres. Upon graduating from High School, she started as a full-time trainer, training horses and bringing them along. In 2021, she started teaching intermediate to advanced riders. Kendall successfully competed in “AA” & “A” rated shows in the hunter and equitation divisions on the East Coast. She has secured many blue ribbons and end of the year Championships on various horses. Other accomplishments include finishing in the 10 at US Pony Finals (2015) & finishing in the top 20 at US Pony Finals (2017), Reserve Champion at Zone 2 Finals, qualifying for Junior Hunter Finals and several year end Championships with Central PA Junior Hunter Association & PA Horse Shows Association. She has attended riding clinics with Stacia Madden, Frank Madden, Louise Serio, and Anne Krusinski. She is very passionate about the wellbeing of the horses and riders. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and pets.
